ICF Calgary 20th Anniversary

How do you create compelling presentations that wow your colleagues and impress your managers?

ICF Calgary Officially Turned 20 Years Old On July 15, 2022

In 2022, we Celebrated Our Awesome Coaching History.

Coaching in Calgary has a long history and has been active in the community for more than 20 years. Evolving from the Calgary Association of Professional Coaches (CAPC) to being recognized as the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Calgary Chapter, there have been many achievements and accomplishments.

A few of these include:

  • Became a charter chapter on July 15, 2002
  • Annual Coaching Conferences held at Banff
  • Day with the Masters
  • Creating the Diane Bonneau Scholarship for ICF Calgary Coaches
  • Launching localized “Find a Coach” directory
  • Establishing a Board Structure focused on; Community, Growth and Governance, 2022

Lessons Learned

As with every journey, there are lessons learned and nuggets of wisdom to pass on. While the journey is still ongoing, we paused to hear what others had to share to those who listen. Some advice included:

  • “Get a mentor coach” -Diane Bonneau, Vice-President Communication 2003, 2004, President 2005, Vice-President 2015
  • “We are a community and can learn from each other.  Find trusted colleagues.” -Lisa Rapley, President 2018
  • “Build your community! Be in the room with like minded people. It’s one of the fastest ways to grow personally and professionally.” -Angela Braun, Chapter President- 2021/2022
  • “I can’t overstate the importance of getting involved and building strong relationships with fellow coaches through shared experience.” -Gord Aker, President 2009
  • “People get hung up on the idea of 'being' and having a 'coach'. What people call you, and what you call yourself, isn't as important as being of value to your client.” -Wilma Slenders, 2014 - Director at Large; 2015 President

We celebrated together and paused to acknowledge how far we have come. It is always a  great time  to join the ICF Calgary Chapter community and connect with other coaches in the community.

A BIG thank you to all past board members, volunteers and members who have contributed to the success of our ICF Calgary Chapter.

This page is dedicated to celebrating the history of our chapter. If you have a memory to share, and would like to see it added to our page, please submit it to communications@icfcalgarychapter.com.
