External Relations Portfolio

If you enjoy making connections, exploring possibilities, and helping meaningful work reach new communities, the External Relations Portfolio at ICF Calgary would love to collaborate with you.
This volunteer role focuses on relationship-building, not sales. You’ll help strengthen connections with professional organizations, community partners, and sponsors who value coaching and want to support its impact.

You might enjoy this role if you like:

  • building and nurturing professional relationships
  • researching potential partners or sponsorship opportunities
  • supporting collaborative or co-branded events
  • helping expand the visibility and reach of coaching
  • contributing to thoughtful, behind-the-scenes work that supports long-term growth

Time Commitment
Approximately 1–2 hours per week. Flexible and supportive. Most work can be done independently, with a monthly committee meeting.

As part of the External Relations Portfolio, you’ll help:

  • strengthen partnerships with organizations and professional groups
  • support sponsorship and advertising initiatives aligned with ICF values
  • contribute to expanding coaching’s presence in the broader community
  • collaborate with a thoughtful, relationship-focused volunteer team

Communications Portfolio

If you’re comfortable with online tools, and learning WordPress or updating simple webpages feels more exciting than intimidating, you’ll fit right in on our volunteer team.

The Communications Portfolio is looking for volunteers who enjoy smoothing out information, organizing updates, and helping our coaching community stay clearly connected.

You might be a great fit if you enjoy:

  • writing short stories, updates, or member highlights
  • supporting our monthly newsletter
  • helping with website updates or simple WordPress tasks
  • assisting with online event setup
  • creating clear, polished communication pieces
  • offering ideas and contributing to a collaborative team

Time Commitment
About three to five hours per month. Flexible. Most tasks can be done independently, with a bit more activity near the end of the month.

What You’ll Be Part Of

  • supporting the transition to our updated website
  • helping create clear, consistent communication for members
  • contributing to simple, sustainable processes for future volunteers
  • optional involvement in a future Communications Advisory Group of ACC, PCC, and MCC coaches

You don’t need advanced tech skills.

If you’re comfortable with technology, enjoy learning new tools, or appreciate the satisfaction of helping communication flow smoothly, we will support you every step of the way.

Marketing Portfolio

If using creative tools to bring ideas to life feels energizing for you, we’d love to tell you about a new opportunity. The ICF Calgary Marketing Portfolio is launching a Member Spotlight Video Project and is seeking volunteers who enjoy turning brief interviews into polished content, creating engaging visuals, and contributing to a more vibrant online presence.

You might enjoy this role if you like:

  • polishing short 1.5 to 2 minute Zoom interview clips
  • adding simple creative touches like snapshots, icons, or light music
  • designing visuals that catch attention and spark interest
  • helping highlight special events or meaningful chapter moments
  • supporting Facebook and LinkedIn posts
  • offering ideas that make our marketing feel fresh, engaging, and reflective of our community

Time Commitment
A few hours each month. Completely flexible. Work can be done independently and at your own pace.

Your creative work helps members feel seen, celebrated, and connected, while strengthening our chapter’s presence and identity.

Why Volunteer?

Whether you work on a team or as an individual coach with your own practice, volunteering provides an opportunity to engage with fellow practitioners and build relationships. The camaraderie and teamwork of working towards common goals and objectives is a rewarding way to connect.

Our community is driven by volunteers. The objectives of the chapter cannot be achieved without creating an environment that is valuable to our community of coaches.

By working together, we build a forum for professional growth and development starting from an interest in understanding what coaching is, attaining certification, to continuing education for senior coaches.  A mix of coaching experience and areas of focus provide for a rich opportunity to learn from each other.

Volunteer opportunities, outside of the Board of Directors vary in levels of commitment and effort to provide various ways to participate and give back. We are looking for various skills and strengths throughout the year that contribute to our goals and events.

Please consider volunteering with our numerous committees that support the work of the board and the chapter.
